This work is the smallest, but it carries the most urgent and affecting message of the entire exhibition. Goya set out to depict the abandonment of the people by their leaders, who regarded them as little more than beasts.
I chose to focus on this baby elephant, whose vulnerability and circumstances evoke a sense of infinite abandonment. And yet, despite his back being shrouded in darkness, he keeps turning toward the light.
